A site where Catherine Fforde designed extensive gardens around a new house. The hard landscape structure included a green oak pergola, brick and york stone paving, together with a parterre with knot planting of box. The planting included herbaceous borders, hardy shrubs and tree planting. Catherine procured all plants for the project and supervised contractors on site.
Starting with a building site, soil amelioration with organic matter was critical to the long term success of the project.
Planting a yew hedge in front of hazel hurdles with pleached hornbeam above created instant screening.
